Open engine hood

Detach air intake pipe (1) from air cleaner housing (12).

Detach vacuum line (2) from air cleaner housing (12).

Separate electrical connector at hot film mass air flow sensor (B2/5)

Unplug electrical connector at boost pressure control pressure transducer (Y31/5).

Disconnect the electrical connector at the EGR [ARF] vacuum transducer/throttle valve (Y31/13)

Vehicles without a particulate filter

6.2

Detach electrical connector for temperature sensor downstream TWC at filter housing (12)

Remove/install temperature sensor

Unplug electrical connectors at glow output stage (N14/3).

Detach vacuum lines at connections (3).

Detach the vacuum line (4) at the EGR [ARF] vacuum transducer/throttle valve (Y31/13)

Detach intake air scoop (5) from air cleaner housing (12).

Detach fuel filter (6) from air cleaner housing (12).

Detach tie strap (7) in area near fuel filter (6) from air cleaner housing (12).

Detach electrical line of O2 sensor from heat shield (arrow).

Detach oil filler device (8) from air cleaner housing (12).

To do this, press together retaining springs (9) and remove oil filler device (8) upwards from air cleaner housing (12).

Pull air filter housing (12) upwards out of rubber mounts (10) at right bracket.

Installation: Check rubber mounts (10) for damage and replace if necessary.

Remove air cleaner housing (12) to the right out of left bracket (11).

Installation: Check rubber mounts (10) for damage and replace if necessary.

Install in the reverse order

Installation: Ensure that the electrical lines and vacuum lines cannot chafing at any point.
