Remove/install

Connect diagnostic system, read out variant coding of the CDI control unit (N3/9) and save

When replacing the CDI control unit (N3/9).



Detach ground line from battery

Remove upper engine cover

Unclip retaining clamps (3) for electrical lines on air filter housing (4)

Unlock and disconnect electrical connections (1) and detach from CDI control unit (N3/9)

Remove screw/bolts (2)

Remove CDI control unit (N3/9)

Install in the reverse order

Transfer variant coding of the old CDI control unit (N3/9) with diagnostic system into new CDI control unit (N3/9)

When replacing the CDI control unit (N3/9).



Start up CDI control unit (N3/9) using the diagnostic system

When replacing the CDI control unit (N3/9).

 In the control units initial menu, select the menu item "Initial startup" under "Adaptations" and process the complete procedure.



Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.
