Temperature sensor upstream of catalytic converter

 Warning

Risk of burn injuries, suffocation and poisoning when working on the exhaust system and the components connected to it. Risk of suffocation and risk of poisoning caused by inhalation of gaseous and solid components of the exhaust. Risk of poisoning caused by skin contact with solid components of the exhaust.

Wear protective clothing and safety glasses. Use the extraction system. Move people out of the hazard area.

Remove/install

Remove upper engine cover.

 Installation: Only install upper engine cover after the leak test.

Remove top front noise insulation.

with code M014 (Engine uprated)

Remove electrical connector (4) from the bracket, release and disconnect it.

Expose electric line (3).

Unscrew union nut of the temperature sensor upstream of catalytic converter (B19/7).

 Installation: Coat thread of union nut for temperature sensor upstream of catalytic converter (B19/7) with hot lubrication paste.

Pull temperature sensor upstreamt of catalytic converter (B19/7) out of catalytic converter (2).

Install in the reverse order.

Read out and delete fault memory.



 Warning

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Carry out engine test run and check engine for proper leaktightness and leaktightness.
