Remove/install

Raise vehicle.

Remove underbody paneling.

Model 910 with code XM1 (Noise abatement measures)

 Installation: Install underfloor paneling only after the leak test.

Disconnect cable ties (1).

 Installation: Replace cable ties (1).

Disconnect electrical connection (2).

 To do this, unlock the electrical connector (2).

Remove electrical wiring harness (3) from the retaining clip (4).

 Installation: Check retaining clip (4) for damage.

If necessary,



replace damaged retaining clip (4).

Remove temperature sensor (5).

Note on calculation of tightening torque when using insertion or socket tools with various effective lengths

 Installation: Coat thread of the temperature sensor (5) with heat-resistant lubricating paste.

Install in the reverse order.

Read out fault memory.

If a new temperature sensor (5) is installed.



Connect/disconnect diagnostic unit

If existing faults are shown:



Erase the fault memory.



Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Check exhaust system for leaks with the engine running.
