Remove nozzle holder combination

Measure valve setback to cylinder head separating surface with dial indicator (10) and dial indicator holder (9)

 Replace cylinder head if necessary.

Remove valve springs (4) and valve stem seals (5)

Mark intake valves (7) and exhaust valves (8) and remove from the cylinder head

Clean valve guides (6) using a cylinder brush (12)



Checking

Check inside diameter of valve guides (6) using drift (11)

 If it is possible to insert side of drift (11) marked with "+" into valve guide (6):



Replace corresponding valve guide (6).

Check valve seat rings in cylinder head

 The valve seat ring must not have any surface damage and must not be burnt; replace cylinder head if necessary.

Check whether intake valves (7) and exhaust valves (8) are reusable

 The valve stems must have no surface damage. The grooves in cotters (2) must not be worn and the chrome layer on valve stems must not be damaged. The valve seats must not be scorched. Replace intake valves (7) and exhaust valves (8) if necessary.



Install

Insert intake valves (7) and exhaust valves (8) into cylinder head

 Oil valve stems with engine oil.

If the old intake valves (7) and exhaust valves (8) are to be reused, install according to the marks made on them. The use of grinding paste for grinding the intake valves (7) and exhaust valves (8) is not permitted.

Insert valve springs (4) and new valve stem seals (5)

 Install the modified valve stem seals (5) only.
