Check

Check basic position of camshaft.

 Remove drift catch (1). Crankshaft remains locked.

Adjust

Loosen bolts (2).

Position camshaft via center bolt (3) until bore (arrow a) and bore (arrow b) are in alignment.


Turn center bolt (3) of camshaft without any jerky movements.
Center bolt (3) will otherwise detach.

If bore (arrow a) and bore (arrow b) are not in alignment and/or bolts (2) are already in contact with camshaft sprocket



Remove toothed belt and reposition.

Lock camshaft with drift catch (1).

  It must be possible to insert drift catch (1) without excessive force expenditure in bore (arrow a) and bore (arrow b).

Remove toothed belt and reposition.

Tighten screws (2).

Remove drift catch (1).

Install

Remove drift from bore of screw (4).

Screw in screw (4).

 Screw plug to crankcase

Install retaining plate (5).

 For this purpose, screw in screws.

 Screw/bolt, retaining plate to cylinder head

Install top toothed belt cover.

Install bracket (6).

 For this purpose, attach nut (7) and screw in screw (8).

 Bolt/nut, lower holder for charge air cooler to crankcase

Install line (9) at bracket (6).

 Check retaining clip.

Depending on the findings,



Replace damaged retaining clip.

Install electrical wiring harness (10) at bracket (6).

 Check retaining clips

Depending on the findings,



Replace damaged retaining clips.

Install charge air cooler.

Attach ground line of on-board electrical system battery.

 Warning

Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.
