Remove screw/bolts (1) and remove bearing cap (2).

Remove journal (3) with gear (4) and thrust plate (5).

Remove journal (3) from gear (4) and take off thrust plate (5).

Clean gear (4), thrust plate (5) and journal (3) and check for wear and damage; replace if necessary.

 There should be no galling visible on the bearing surfaces (arrows) of the gear (4), the journal (3) and on the thrust plate (5).
All gears on the gearwheel drive must be checked if there is wear or damage on the gear (4) and replaced if necessary.

Measure shank length (L) of screw/bolts (1) .

If permissible shank length (L) is exceeded:



Fit appropriate new screw/bolt (1).

Coat bearing surfaces (arrows) on the gear (4), the journal (3) and the thrust plate (5) with engine oil.

Lay thrust plate (5) on both sides on the gear (4) and push onto the journal (3).

Place journal (3) with thrust plate (5) and gear (4) on crankcase.

Put bearing cap (2) in place and tighten down screw/bolts (1)  .
