Remove cylinder head cover

 Installation: Only install upper engine cover after the leak test.

Remove the chain tensioner (3)

Remove camshaft positioner (4) for exhaust camshaft

Remove cap (10) to the side of tensioning rail (2)

 Installation: Replace cap (10).

Remove sliding rail bolt (1)



Specified engine oils (service) - Overview

 For slide rail pin (1) with thread M5,  exchange spindle in  extractor.

 Installation: Coat sliding rail bolt (1) with engine oil.

Remove tensioning rail (2) upwards



Check

Check slide rail (5, 6) with endoscope for wear, galling and damage



Replace tensioning rail (2) and slide rails (5, 6).

Replace tensioning rail (2).

Install in the reverse order

 Warning

Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear buttoned-up and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Carry out an engine test run, in doing so check engine for leaktightness
