Adjust the valve bridges with the engine cold. Wait at least 30 minutes after engine shutdown even if it ran for a short period to assure a uniform temperature.
To adjust the valve bridges with the rocker arm mechanism installed, the piston of the corresponding cylinder must be on TDC of the compression stroke. The clearance between the rocker arm (4) and the valve bridge (3) can be noted, and the push rod (5) can be easily rotated. After adjusting the valve bridge (3), adjust the valve clearance on the rocker arm (4).
1 | Loosen the counternut (1) and unscrew (about 3 turns) the adjusting screw (2). |
2 | Keep the valve bridge (3) pressed against the valve stem (arrow A). |
3 | With the valve bridge (3) pressed, screw the adjusting screw (2) by hand until it slightly touches on the valve stem (arrow B). |
The valve bridge (3) must not move upwards. |
4 | Hold the adjusting screw (2) and tighten the locknut (1) |
