Installing:

3 Oil thread and bolt head contact surface of bolts of bearing caps.

4 Mount bearing caps onto the crankcase.

The crankcase and the bearing caps are marked to match, e.g. H 956. The marking is located in the case of the crankcase on the third crankshaft bearing on the contact surface to the oil pan and of the bearing caps. The number to the left of the letter indicates the number of the crankshaft bearing, the crankshaft bearings being numbered consecutively from 1 - 7 from the vibration damper side.

5 Tighten bolts of bearing caps initially to the specified torque as shown in the tightening diagram, and then tighten finally to the specified tightening angle.

Mark wrench bit during this step as a check of the tightening angle.

1 Marking of wrench bit

2 Marking of hexagon bolt

6 Pay attention to tightening torque and tightening angle of crankshaft bearing cap bolts.

7 Rotate crankshaft (inspection of ease of movement).
