1 Clean the bearing points in the crankcase and the bearing cap (3) with chamois.
2 Insert the bearing shells (1, 2) in the crankcase and in the bearing cap (3) in the marked sequence.
The locking lugs (arrows) of the bearing shells (1, 2) must be located in the slots of the crankcase basic bores and bearing cap (3). The oil drillings in the bearing shell and in the crankcase must be aligned.
3 Install the bearing cap (3) with the bearing shells (1) in the crankcase.
4 Measure the shank length of the bolts for the crankshaft bearing cap.
If the specified shank lengths are exceeded, the bolts must be replaced.
5 Oil the bolts of the crankshaft bearing cap slightly and tighten with the prescribed torque and tightening
angle °.

6 With a dial gauge and quick calipers measure the crankshaft bearing bores in the crankcase at three positions (A, B, C) (vertically and each about 30° from the separation points in the upward and downward directions)
7 Note measurements.
The measurements are required for calculating the radial play of the crankshaft.
8 Take off the bearing caps (3, 4) again.
