Remove oil filter element and check slats of oil filter element from outside for metal abrasion and swollen condition.

Only in case of extreme wear or damage to the engine components.

If severe contamination is present or the oil filter element is swollen:

Replace engine oil and oil filter element.

Check the heat exchanger for soiling through metal abrasion.

Only if there is metal abrasion on the oil filter element segments or in the oil circuit.

If soiling is present:

Replace the heat exchanger.

Remove oil spray nozzles and check for damage.

Only if one or more pistons were damaged.

If damage is present:

Replace oil spray nozzles.

Remove oil pump, disassemble and check for wear and damage by means of a visual inspection.

Only when an increased amount of metal abrasion is found on oil filter element lamella.

If damage is present:

Replace oil pump.

Only if there is metal abrasion or a swollen oil filter element through coolant in the engine oil circuit.

If soiling is present:

Replace engine oil and oil filter element.
