Remove/install

Disconnect electrical connection (1)

Remove screw/bolt (2)

Place wiring harness (3) outside of working area

Disconnect electrical connection (4)

Disconnect electrical connection (5)

Remove cap (14)


Carefully remove cap (14) from timing case cover (17).
Otherwise damage may occur to the sealing surface on the cap (14) or to the sealing surface on the timing case cover (17).

 To do so, unscrew screws/bolts (6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13).

 Installation: Apply sealant to sealing surface of cap (14).
Screw in screws/bolts (6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13) in numerical sequence and tighten.

Remove sealing rings (15)

 Installation: Replace sealing rings (15).

Remove sealing ring (16)

 Installation: Install new sealing ring (16).



Clean

Clean sealing surfaces of timing case cover (17) and cap (14)

Install in the reverse order



 Warning

Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.
