Installation tool
Insertion device (02) includes insertion device (01).
1 | Clean and degrease crankcase (3) and oil pan (4) in area where sealant is applied as well as contact surface (7a) on crankshaft flange (7). |
The radial shaft sealing ring (6) is vulcanized into the end cover (5) and can therefore be replaced only together with the end cover (5). Do not reuse end cover (5) with radial shaft sealing ring (6) after removal. |
The radial shaft sealing ring (6) has both a sealing lip and a protective lip. The sealing lip, protective lip and contact surface (7a) on crankshaft flange (7) may not be lubricated for installation. |

4 | Mount end cover (5) with radial shaft sealing ring (6) on insertion device (02) as shown. |
Make sure that the protective lip faces in the direction of the transmission housing and the sealing lip faces in the direction of the crankcase (3). |
5 | Remove insertion device (01) from insertion device (02). |
P03.20-2345-01
6 | Position end cover (5) with radial shaft sealing ring (6) and insertion device (02) on contact surface (7a) on crankshaft flange (7). |
The contact surface (7a) must not be worked with coarse abrasive paper. |
7 | Screw in screws (5a, 5b) in crosswise pattern. |
8 | Tighten screws (5a, 5b) in crosswise pattern in stages . |
Observe tightening torque. |
9 | Remove insertion device (02) from crankshaft flange (7). |
P03.20-2346-01
10 | Raise protective lip carefully and check for correct installation position of the sealing lip. |
The sealing lip must point towards the cylinder crankcase (3) all around its circumference. |
11 | Check for correct installation position of the protective lip. |
The protective lip must point over the whole circumference to the transmission housing. |
