Detach rear engine suspension lug on cylinder head

 Lifting eye or bracket for glow output stage to cylinder head

Remove bracket for fuel lines on cover (20)

Remove heat shield over flexible exhaust gas recirculation pipe (17)

 Bolt, shield to exhaust manifold

Remove screw/bolts (18, 19) and take off flexible exhaust gas recirculation pipe (17)

 Installation: Replace screw/bolts (18, 19) and seals.

 Bolt, exhaust gas recirculation line to exhaust manifold

Remove screw/bolts (21)

 Installation: Replace seal.

 Chain case cover to cylinder head

Pry off cover (20)



Clean

Clean sealing surfaces on cylinder head and cover (20)


Do not use any sharp-edged or pointed objects for cleaning sealing surface at cylinder head.
Otherwise the components could get damaged.

 Installation: Replace seals on EGR line, flexible exhaust gas recirculation pipe (17) and cylinder head.

Install in the reverse order



Check cooling system for leaktightness

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.
