Turn key in ignition lock to position "0"

Remove air filter housing

Unscrew screws (1a) and remove bracket (1) for the front engine cover with air pump switchover valve (Y32)

 Screw/bolt, switchover valve bracket to cylinder head

Remove right air shutoff valve (2)

Remove front cover (3) on the right cylinder head

Remove ignition coils on right cylinder head

Remove cover (4) from centrifuge

Disconnect right electrical connector (R) on the ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10)

Pull off ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10) from left control unit bracket (5l) and from right control unit bracket (5r) and set aside

 N3Do not disconnect the left electrical connector (L) on the ME-SFI [ME] control unit (/10).

Remove the right control unit bracket (5r)

 Bolt, control unit bracket to resonance intake manifold

Detach ground line (6) from cylinder head cover (7)

 Screw/bolt, ground line to cylinder head cover

Detach feed duct (8) from intake manifold (9), cylinder head cover (7) and rear right engine lifting lug (10) and place to one side

 Screw/bolt, feed duct to resonance intake manifold

 Screw/bolt, feed duct to engine suspension lug

Loosen bolts for cylinder head cover (7) in reverse order of tightening procedure and remove them

Carefully pry off cylinder head cover (7) from cylinder head

Notes on sealant path for cylinder head cover

Do not pound in tool for prying off between cylinder head cover (7) and cylinder head.
The sealing surfaces will be damaged otherwise.

 Installation: Apply sealant to the cylinder head cover (7):

Sealant, Loctite 5970, 50 ml

Clean

Clean sealing surfaces on cylinder head and cylinder head cover (7)

Remove sealant

Do not use any sharp-edged tools or abrasive paper.
The sealing surfaces will be damaged otherwise.

Install in the reverse order



 Warning

Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.
