Turn the ignition key to the ON position, without running the engine

If the hydraulic steering fluid is cold, run the engine at idle speed and turn the steering several time to both sides, to heat the fluid. Then, stop the engine and keep the ignition key ON.

Warning

Risk of injury caused by body parts being pinched or crushed as cab is tilted

Ensure that no one is within the tilting range of the cab as it is being tilted. Always tilt the cab all the way to the end position and secure with the safety strut.

Warning

Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Start the engine

In vehicles with 904.9 engine, start switch S10.

Remove the reservoir lid (1) and clean it with a clean cloth

Reinstall the lid (1) and remove it again to check the level

If the steering system is correctly refueled, the fluid level with the engine running, at idle speed, must be located withing the Max. (a) and Min. (b).

The fluid level must not exceed the indication of maximum level .

Refill

If the fluid is at the minimum level height or below it, add the recommended fluid up to the reservoir maximum level

Stop the engine

With the engine OFF, the oil level must increase from 1 to 2 centimeters beyond the maximum level reference mark.

If the fluid level raises more than 2 centimeters, it is an indication of air in the hydraulic circuit, and the system bleeding is required.
