Replace brake fluid

Danger!

Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing brake fluid. Risk of injury caused by brake fluid coming into contact with skin and eyes.

Only pour brake fluid into suitable and appropriately marked containers. Wear protective clothing and eye protection when handling brake fluid.

Mark fluid level of brake fluid reservoir (5, 6, 7)

Screw down caps (4) of brake fluid reservoirs (5, 6, 7)

Suction off brake fluid from the brake fluid reservoir (5, 6, 7)

 The level of the brake fluid should still extend to above that of the supply opening.



Fill new brake fluid up to "MAX" mark in the brake fluid reservoirs (5, 6, 7)



Connect filler/bleeder unit to brake fluid reservoir (6) and apply specified bleed pressure to brake system

 Pay attention to manufacturer's operating instructions. Bleed pressure 2.0 bar.

Connect bleed hose (2) of brake fluid receptacle (1) to bleed valve (3) of right front axle

 Carry out the bleeding procedure at all brake calipers at each hub drive.

Open vent valve (3) by one or two turns

 In the case of the front axle with third brake caliper, code X19 Load rating II, or code X20 Load rating III, the front wheel must be removed and the lower brake caliper detached and swung downward.

 Leave the bleed valve (3) open until the brake fluid escapes free of bubbles and without contaminants (bright color of brake fluid).



Close the bleed valve (3)

Switch off and remove filler/bleeder unit

 Pay attention to manufacturer's operating instructions.

Replace brake fluid at the front axle, left and rear axle, left and right

 See operation steps 5 to 9. Carry out bleeding procedures at all brake calipers at each hub reduction gear.



Inspect braking system for proper operation and leaks

 Fully depress brake pedal several times. If after the brake fluid change is carried out there is a suspicion of the presence of air in the brake circuit: 

Correct brake fluid level in brake fluid reservoir (5, 6, 7)

 Produce the marked brake fluid level again.
