Remove the wheels from the trailing axle



Remove the wheel hubs (4)



Remove the tapered roller bearings (3, 5)

Remove the radial shaft sealing ring (1)



Clean

Remove the used grease from the wheel hub (4) and tapered roller bearings (3, 5)


Do not use solvents either dirty and lint-dropping clothes to remove grease and to clean the tapered roller bearings (3, 5) and the wheel hub (4).
Otherwise, the tapered roller bearings (3, 5) can be damaged.



Check

Check the tapered roller bearings (3, 5)

 Inspect the tapered roller bearings (3, 5) for wear, chippings or crackings. Bathe the tapered roller bearings (3, 5) in oil and wrap them with a clean, lint-free cloth or in a paper, to protect them up to the moment of assembly.

If any of the tapered roller bearings (3, 5) presents any damage or wear:



Replace this with a new one.

 It is recommended to replace both tapered roller bearings (3, 5) along with their respective outer races on the wheel hub (4), on both axle side.

Check the friction surface of the race (2)

If the friction surface of the race (2) presents damages or wear:



Replace the race (2) on both sides of the axle.



Install

Install the radial shaft sealing ring (1)

 Install a new radial shaft sealing ring (1). Grease the radial shaft sealing ring (1).

Install the tapered roller bearings (3, 5)

 Apply the specified amount of grease in the tapered roller bearings (3, 5). Only use grease with recommended specifications. Otherwise, the tapered roller bearings (3, 5) can be damaged.

Install the wheel hubs (4)


