| Renew all sealing rings | ||
1 | Apply parking brake and loosen front wheel nuts slightly | ||
2 | Jack up vehicle at front axle and support on stands | ||
3 | Remove wheels | Nut, wheel | |
4 | Unscrew screw plug (30) and drain oil completely | Turn wheel hub so that screw plug is pointing downwards. | |
5 | Remove front wheel hub (1) | ||
6 | Clean wheel hubs and tapered roller bearings (2, 3) | ||
| Checking | ||
7 | Check tapered roller bearings (2, 3) and bearing race for condition and wear | Tapered roller bearings worn or damaged | |
Renew in pairs | |||
| Install | ||
8 | Fit front wheel hub (1) | ||
9 | Fill front wheel hub with new oil | Turn wheel hub so that the filler hole is pointing upwards. Measure oil quantity exactly before filling. | |
10 | Check oil level at filler hole, correct if necessary | Turn wheel hub so that oil level marking (31) is horizontal. | |
11 | Install wheels | Lightly oil wheel stud threads and contact surfaces of pressure washer nuts. | |
12 | Lower vehicle | ||
13 | Tighten wheel nuts | | |
14 | Push down brake pedal several times |
