1 Check valve clearance using feeler gauge between rocker arm and valve bridge (intake valve) or valve stem (exhaust valve) (arrow).
The valve clearance does not have to be adjusted during maintenance if it is within the test tolerance.
2 Set valve clearance.
Slacken locknut (2) and adjust valve clearance using adjusting bolt (1). Then counterhold adjusting bolt (1) and tighten locknut (2) to specified torque.
Once again, inspect valve clearance (arrow), adjust to correct setting if necessary.
The valve clearance is correctly set if it is possible to pull the feeler gauge through with a slight resistance.
