A. Vehicles with ASSYST maintenance computer

The ASSYST maintenance computer determines the ideal maintenance time and shows this information in the instrument cluster's display. The remaining distance is displayed in km or the remaining driving time in days, depending on whether the km interval or the time interval is reached first.

Additional jobs at the maintenance service or time-dependent maintenance jobs are not displayed on the instrument cluster display. These must be carried out additionally or separately at the relevant point in time.

After completion of the maintenance work reset the ASSYST maintenance computer.

The following parameters for the maximum distance (km) and maximum period (years) are stored in the ASSYST maintenance computer:

Scheduled maintenance

Motor

Engine 651 (Euro 4) without diesel particulate filter

Engine 651 (Euro 4/5) with diesel particulate filter

Engine oil quality as per sheet

B. Vehicles without ASSYST maintenance computer

The maintenance intervals are determined for a certain travel distance for Service A and Service B. The defined travel distance is detailed in the valid maintenance booklet.

Engine oil and filter change:

The engine oil and filter change interval is dependent on the:

Engine oil quality

Sulfur content in fuel

vehicle mode of service

With a sulfur content greater than 3000 ppm (= 0.3 % by weight), oil change interval as for severe operating conditions.

Normal operation:

Maintenance as per travel distance. Vehicle use on freeways and expressways, in regional and intercity service, in large cities and densely populated areas.

Severe operation:

Maintenance operations for vehicle use, the extent of which extends over and beyond what is normal, are to be conducted at short intervals (e.g. for regular trips on unsurfaced roads, on extremely short distances with frequent engine stops).

C. Maintenance notes

The maintenance scope is given in the applicable maintenance sheet and the maintenance content of the individual maintenance item is given in the maintenance descriptions in the Workshop Information System (WIS).

The additional operations at the maintenance service and the time-dependent maintenance operation are summarized at the end of maintenance sheet. It should be agreed with the customer and ticked off on the header section on the first page:

Z1= Additional operations once at 1st oil service plus

Z1 = Additional operations for 1st Service B, then every 120,000 km

ZA = Additional operations as of 150,000 km

Z2 = Additional operations every 2 years

Z2 = Additional operations every 2 years or 120,000 km

Z5= Additional operations every 5 years or 240,000 km

The completion of the individual maintenance items should be documented on the maintenance sheet by making a cross in the boxes in front of the operation titles.

A check mark should be entered in the boxes after the operation titles to identify items which were not OK when the vehicle was received.

The person carrying out the work provides confirmation of this by a signature in the top part of the maintenance sheet.

Checking of the fluid levels in the major assemblies (transmission, transfer case, front axle, rear axle) has been replaced by visual inspection of the major assemblies for oil leakage.

If any leaks are present, the procedure, as before, is to determine the cause and to rectify it subject to a separate repair order.

D. Maintenance documentation

On vehicles with a maintenance booklet, completion of the maintenance and, where applicable, completion of any additional operations must be confirmed on the confirmation pages.

On vehicles with digital service booklet (DSB), completion must be confirmed in the DSB and a service report must be printed out for the customer.
