Underbody area
These work instructions serve the aftertreatment of the underfloor in the event of corrosion.
If there is the impression that the corrosion has assumed an extent that exceeds the range of these repair instructions and the replacement of individual components is required, then proceed as follows:
A complete cost estimate with picture documentation should be prepared and sent to the central person responsible at the Market Performance Center for agreement.

1 | Remove light corrosion damage on underfloor in the hatched area (underfloor area) completely using a wire brush | Wear safety glasses, breathing and hearing protection as well as protective clothing in order to avoid injuries. | |
Corrosion damage, which does not exceed a time of 15 minutes, should be taken into account in terms of time in the operation item. Greater damage is processed in the individual stages in AF61.00-P-0001A. | |||
Carry out repair using angle grinders with flat wire brushes, air-powered tools with various inserts as well as hand-operated steel brushes. | |||
2 | Carry out covering and masking work | Mask off complete outer body, front lower part of air conditioning radiator and radiator, fuel filter, pressure regulator, identification plates on differential, information plate of trailer hitch, bumper mounting points, exhaust system, poly-V belt, drive shafts and propeller shafts and brake system components. | |
3 | Coat primer filler on brushed surfaces on the underfloor in the shaded area | Scratches on the frame which have arisen due to brushing must be covered with primer correspondingly. | |
The manufacturers' recommendations are to be followed with regard to repair materials and processing time. Only use the repair materials listed here. | |||
