Thread in welding wire (1) on righthand side of upper DPF (2) on seat of V-band clamp (3) from below until it emerges at the top

 Bend the welding wire (1) slightly to make it easier to thread.

To check the installation space, try pulling the welding wire (1) from the right side to the left side of the upper DPF (2) using sawing motions

 It is not easy to pull the welding wire (1) through the gap. A certain resistance is normal.

If the welding wire (1) can be pulled from the right side to the left side of the upper DPF (2), the installation space is OK:



Continue with operation step 4.

If the welding wire (1) cannot be pulled from the right side to the left side of the upper DPF (2), the installation space is not OK:



Continue with step 5.



Perform maintenance of DPF

Only if the test has shown that the installation space is OK and maintenance of both DPFs is due or was intended in any case.

 The maintenance is not a component of the service measure and must be performed subject to a separate repair order.

Install lower DPF

Only if the test has shown that the installation space is not OK, or that although the installation space is OK, maintenance is not yet to be carried out.



 The lower DPF can be reinstalled for the time being. The vehicle can then continue to be driven until feedback from Support is received or until the regular maintenance service.

Send back test result to Support

 When the test is complete, feedback should always be sent to Support - regardless of the result of the test. The feedback is sent by e-mail with the following Subject: Check installation space at diesel particulate filter element to the address below:

The following information is required:
- Vehicle identification number
- Major assembly number of exhaust aftertreatment unit (see identification plate on exhaust aftertreatment unit)
- A-object number of exhaust aftertreatment unit (see identification plate on exhaust aftertreatment unit)
- Reason for workshop visit (e.g. maintenance service, repair, other)
- Total odometer reading of vehicle
- Dealership or workshop
- Dealer number
- Customer
- When was the test performed?
- Test result: OK or not OK

If the test result is not OK, Support will contact you to discuss how to proceed.
Until then, the lower DPF (2) should be reinstalled for the time being. The vehicle can then be operated normally again until feedback from Support is received.

In the "Vehicles" tab, enter the vehicle identification number in the search field

 The search criteria must be set to "Vehicle ident number".

In the "Vehicles" tab, select the sub-tab "AO Texts"

Using the "Add text" button, enter a text in DG 49 which includes the kilometer reading of the vehicle and the date at the time of the test

 Formulate the text as follows:
Installation space of diesel particulate filter tested on 
xx.xx.xxxx at kilometer reading xxx xxx.
The test result was OK or not OK.
