 The front passenger airbag unit cannot be removed as described in
AR91.60-P-0680SX. Furthermore, the instrument panel cannot be removed as described in AR68.10-P-1000SX.

 Due to a technical modification as of the start of the series production, the front passenger airbag unit can no longer be removed without first removing the instrument panel because of the change in the space available. During a certain production time period, the front passenger airbag units were being mounted with a bracket (1) and two bolts (2) onto the crossmember. After this time period, the front passenger airbag units were mounted with catch hooks onto the crossmember.

 Please observe the following steps:

1. Remove passenger side air vent and check how the airbag has been mounted (picture 1).

 When removing the side air vent, first remove the cover before removing trim strip because the trim strip is now screwed in under the cover.

2. Remove instrument panel together with front passenger airbag unit.

 When removing the instrument panel the catch hook may have to be pressed back (picture 2). There is a groove in the triangular bracket of the front passenger airbag unit for this purpose.
