Modification notes
General information on TELE AID II:
The improved TELE AID II system has been introduced with effect from November 2000 for models 203, 208, 210, 215, 220, 463. This now offers the three Telematics services of emergency call, telediagnosis and Mercedes-Benz information.
All the technical information is documented in the WIS. The relevant dealer process is described in Sales Letter 28/00
Models 129 and 202 continue to be fitted with the previous TELE AID generation (only emergency call).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The emergency call system features its own backup battery in order to be able to also transmit an emergency call in the event of a major accident. If the vehicle battery is disconnected when carrying out work on the vehicle electrical system, the TELE AID control unit switches over to the backup battery and discharges this gradually. To avoid this, the TELE AID control unit should be switched to the "service mode" when carrying out any work which involves disconnecting the vehicle battery. This is done using DAS.
An emergency call can also be transmitted in the service mode.
