Modification notes
Replacing electric power sliding roof control unit
Our experience indicates that in many cases replacement of powered roof control units is done prematurely.
After completion of repair work on the sliding roof, check carefully that both roof flap and control unit are properly aligned in the service position.
In order to move into the service position the roof switch needs to be activated for another six seconds after opening. This will open the sliding roof further by several additional centimeters.
For emergency operation the Allen wrench included in the vehicle tool kit will be put onto the sliding roof drive and turned until the roof flap has opened completely.
Prior to installation the control unit needs to be brought into the service position. This is done by turning the pinion until the color markings on both toothed gears are clearly visible in the control unit's lateral inspection window.
The markings have to align perfectly before the control unit can be installed.
The work instruction is currently being revised.
We point out that removed control units will be approved no longer unless the specific damage symptoms are noted on the return delivery slip.
If the damage statement is missing we reserve the right to redebit the control unit.
