Service Information: Omission of rear window antenna for telephone/GPS

 Since 01.06.2006 (model 211 as of VIN 990432, model 219 as of VIN 080603), the antenna for telephone and GPS is fitted on the roof and no longer on the rear window. As of this date, an opening is provided in the roof (also in replacement roofs).

If the roof is replaced on vehicles manufactured before 01.06.2006, the antenna must be retrofitted or a "dummy antenna" must be installed.

If the vehicle is equipped with an antenna on the rear window, the antenna must be removed together with its wiring harness. The cable hole in the side wall must be sealed with a stop plug (part number A 010 997 40 81).

The new antenna must be ordered and installed with the following color number and the following equipment-dependent wiring harness:

 wiring harness for telephone only A 211 440 15 07

 wiring harness for GPS A 211 440 99 06

 wiring harness for GPS/
SDARS for USA A 211 440 17 06

 On vehicles without antenna on the rear window, a "dummy antenna" must be fitted, i.e. only the antenna (without wiring harness) is fitted.
