As part of ongoing technical development a new assembly tool has been developed for installation of the front radial shaft sealing ring.
The new assembly tool helps to ensure that the front radial shaft sealing ring is not tilted when it is being pushed into the oil pump housing, it is pushed-in in an exactly axial position whereupon the prescribed installation depth is then specified. The new assembly sleeve protects the sealing lip in the radial shaft sealing ring against any damage through the flange on the crankshaft.
Damage to the radiator is ruled out here because the required working area in front of the oil pump housing is smaller than that available in the previous repair method.
The puller for removal of the front radial shaft sealing ring has been discontinued.
The radial shaft sealing ring is removed by screwing in sheet metal screws and then pulling it out with a pair of pliers.
On model 949 (Zetros) with code (Z90) Vehicle capable of fording up to 1195 mm or with code (Z69) Vehicle capable of fording up to 1500 mm, two front radial shaft sealing ring are installed, the inner radial shaft sealing ring is pressed-in to the oil pump housing using an intermediate ring that is additionally plugged onto the assembly tool. This intermediate ring defines the installed dimension for the inner radial shaft sealing ring.
The "Remove/install front crankshaft radial sealing ring" repair instructions have been changed or newly compiled and published with WIS version 11/2009.
