SI54.30-W-0005A | Service information: New tachometer with green diode field | 22.2.01 |
MODEL 950.###, 952.###, 953.###, 954.### ## as of 554500
Modification notes
Notes
A new tachometer is installed on Actros vehicles as of approx. vehicle ident. end number 554500. A green diode field (econometer) is integrated into this tachometer for indicating the variable, optimum speed range for economy depending on the load (700-1700 RPM).
In certain situations, e.g. just before upgrade, driving outside of the optimum range for economy may be practical.
Display fields in tachometer
Green field:Optimum range for economy.
Green diode field: Variable, optimum range for economy.
Yellow field:Effective range for exhaust brake and retarder.
Red field:Excessive RPM/hazard range.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The green LED field comes on:
- beginning at a speed of 20 km/h
- when the speed range and gear engaged do not appear to be optimum for economy at constant speed.
The green LED field does not come on:
- at speeds below 10 km/h
- when the engine speed is in the optimum range for economy
- when the vehicle is shifted, accelerated or decelerated
- in automatic mode "Selector position 1"
Only on vehicles with TELLIGENT automatic shifting.
The idle speed with engine warm is approx. 550 rpm
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
NOTES FOR DRIVER:
- The idle speed is regulated automatically depending on the coolant temperature.
- When the vehicle is standing with engine running and transmission at neutral position the engine has a delayed accelerator response.
- The displays in the new tachometer provide information on the momentary driving mode; they are rpm recommendations, not shift recommendations.
