Modification notes
As of 09/99, a Racor make fuel prefilter with heated water separator can be ordered from the factory under CODE K81 for all of the above vehicles.
To prevent premature wear on the unit pumps and injection nozzles, model series 500 engines as of engine end no. 0113204 have been provided with a 1.5 μ fuel prefilter as standard equipment.
In countries where contaminated fuel or fuel with increased water content must be expected, a fuel prefilter (made by Racor) can be installed to prevent clogging of the main fuel filter prior to scheduled maintenance.
The prefilter can significantly extend the service life of the main fuel filter and the injector elements by filtering out large contaminant particles and separating water from the fuel.
We therefore favor retrofitting delivered vehicles with Racor fuel prefilters.
Filter installation is not free of charge and may not be billed under warranty or goodwill agreement.
