Service information: Replace bolt on steering shaft's upper universal joint

 A bolt has to be replaced on these vehicles at the steering shaft.

Please organize this service measure such that it is implemented together with service measure "Repair PTO transmission" to help ensure that the effected customers do not suffer any additional downtime with his/her vehicle.

Organizational procedure:

We would request you to inform the representatives and contractual workshops in your area. Authorize the relevant departments to carry this out, and supply the EDP lists and operational instructions. Monitoring the service measure carried out by the contractual partners continues to remain one of your tasks.

We request that you immediately inform the affected customers in writing, using the following proposed text:

All Mercedes-Benz vehicles are subject to continuous quality control. This is not limited to production, but also covers the vehicles in everyday operation. As part of this quality control measure we have determined that a bolt on the steering shaft does not have the required stability.

Please contact the repair reception or customer service reception department at your usual Mercedes-Benz workshop immediately in order to arrange an appointment.

Your vehicle will be inspected and modified accordingly, if necessary. Of course, no charges will be incurred by you for this work.

If the vehicle is no longer in your possession, please inform us of the current owner's address.

It must be ensured that customers are not simultaneously contacted by more than one department.
