Modification notes
Due to a machining fault at the supplier's, the air dryers may start to leak at the housing. The causes for this have now been identified and appropriate counter-measures have been introduced to remedy the fault.
As of VIN 437.125 1W 197 136 these air dryers no longer leak. Stocks in the GLC and in the regional warehouses have been cleared of old parts.
The air dryers fitted to vehicles from VIN 195 011 to VIN 197 135 must be checked and replaced if necessary to ensure they are not liable to malfunction and to prevent any consequential damage.
The check should be made the next time the vehicle comes into the workshop or during the next maintenance service.
A warranty/goodwill claim must be submitted for parts and labor costs.
These parts can be ordered via the usual channels.
For processing reasons, this STIN is valid for a limited period only. This means that warranty claims for this work may only be submitted up until 28.06.2002.
