Within the scope of our production monitoring, we have noticed that electrostatic charging can result in fault messages and partial failure in the vehicle electronics under unfavorable circumstances during operation on vehicles retrofitted with rotation chains.

Models 944, 950, 952, 953, 954

A shop-made ground cable (1) with a cross-section of at least 6 mm2 must be installed between the rear axle housing (2) and clamp connector for circuit 31 (X9) when installing rotation chains.

The clamp connector for circuit 31 (X9) is located on the inside of the frame behind the battery box.

MODEL 930, 932, 933, 934

A shop-made ground cable (1) with a cross-section of at least 6 mm2 must be installed between the rear axle housing (2) and the power distributor when installing rotation chains.

To do so, an additional negative power distributor must be attached to the existing negative power distributor.

In addition, it is necessary to ensure that on all vehicles when the rotation chains are switched off, the gap (a) between the rotation chains and the road surface is at least 50 mm.

On vehicles with rotation chains already installed, the ground cable should be retrofitted the next time the vehicle is in the workshop and the distance between the rotation chains and road surface checked.



Installation of the ground cable as well as the additional power distributor and gap check is subject to charge and must not be billed to warranty or goodwill.
