Service information: Lubricant according to grade MB 235.20 - Dedicated oil for rear axles.

We inform you that on April 2, 2018, Mercedes Benz Brazil once again demonstrated its technological leadership in the local market by introducing in its vehicles rear axle lubricant according to the specification of the grade MB 235.20 and discontinuing the use of the MB 235.0 and 235.6 specifications.

This aims to provide our customers the opportunity to use a product with a unique viscosity grade, which allows to further improve the durability and proper operation of the rear axles of our vehicles.

The lubricants specified in grade MB 235.20 stand out because they have a higher operating temperature resistance, which guarantees a lower level of oxidation, maintenance of cleaning of the internal components of the differential and, in some cases, increase of the lubricant exchange interval.

It is important to note that the genuine Mercedes Benz brand product also meets SAE J 2360 and API GL-5 specifications. However, other products - which meet SAE J 2360 and API GL-5 specifications - may not meet original Mercedes Benz product specifications.

Based on tests carried out it is possible to state that the original Mercedes Benz grade MB 235.20 enables:

Greater durability of internal differential components;

Lower level of internal deposit, which minimizes the risk of leakage by the pinion retainer;

A unique lubricant that meets several automotive specifications, thus reducing storage complexity and eliminating possible application failures.

In this scenario, Mercedes-Benz do Brasil recommends the use of oil, according to grade MB 235.20 specification, in the rear axles of its vehicles.
