As of October 2006, a modified metering device with the part number A 000 140 05 39 is to be fitted in series production vehicles.

The modified metering device has an additional electrical connection (2) for the diffuser heater cable set.

The GLC now only supplies the modified metering device.

The modified metering device can also be installed as a replacement for the previous metering device. It should, however, be noted that the additional electrical connection (2) has a blind cap to protect against corrosion. This blind cap is already on the metering device when delivered.

If the blind cap is missing, you must order it from the list of separate parts.

A set of work instructions describing how to retrofit the diffuser heater is currently being compiled for vehicles which were manufactured before October. The work instructions explain the routing of a wiring harness and an engine control (MR) download.

With the engine model series 500, the new heat shield with the part number A 541 142 24 20 must also be fitted in order to protect the electrical connection from the heat from the exhaust pipe.

No additional heat shield is required for engine model series 457 and 900.
