A leakage of engine oil in the lower area of the fuel system high pressure pump (1) indicates a defective radial shaft sealing ring (3). The engine oil required for lubrication of the gearwheel drive then exits through the bore (arrow) between the housing for the fuel system high pressure pump (1) and the crankcase.
This damage instance used to require a replacement of the fuel system high pressure pump (1).
For fuel system high pressure pumps (1) with part number A470 090 07 50 or A470 090 08 50 the front radial shaft sealing ring (3) can be replaced with immediate effect separately.
The part number can be read off the identification plate (2).
Warranty claims for replacement of the fuel system high pressure pump (1), as a consequence of oil leakage through the bore (arrow), are rejected with a reference to the new repair option now available.
