GF83.55-W-3100A | Refrigerant compressor, location/task/function | 24.4.96 |
MODEL 950, 952, 953, 954 with BODY 942.899
W83.55-0001-01
1 Refrigerant compressor
A Refrigerant line from expansion valve
B Refrigerant line to condenser
Task | The refrigerant compressor (1) acts as a pump, by sucking in the refrigerant, compressing it and then pushing it back into the circuit. One of the separation points between the high and low-pressure part of the circuit is the valve plate of the refrigerant compressor (1). Refrigerant compressors (1) are only suitable for the compressing of gaseous fluids. If a liquid is sucked in, then the refrigerant compressor (1) will be damaged.
Function | Cold low-pressure gas is sucked in by the refrigerant compressor (1) on the evaporator side (A). This gas cools down the refrigerant compressor (1). In the refrigerant compressor (1) it is then pushed into the condenser (high pressure element) (B).
Location | The refrigerant compressor (1) is mounted at the left front (in direction of travel) of the engine block. It is rigidly connected to the crankshaft by means of a V-belt. It can only be switched off by means of an electromagnetic coupling.
