Function requirements for video operation in general
Circuit 30g ON status present.
Transport mode is not active.
Video DVD inserted into DVD changer or DVD drive of radio (Audio/COMAND).
Video mode, general
The DVD drive of the radio (Audio/COMAND) supports the playback of video DVDs. The video image is displayed on the Audio/COMAND display depending on request and availability.
The video function can be operated using the:
Central operating unit (COU [ZBE]) control unit
Touchpad control unit
Voice control system (VCS [SBS])
Left multifunction steering wheel button group and right multifunction steering wheel button group
Function sequence for video mode
The central operating unit (COU [ZBE]) control unit sends the control signals over the telematics CAN to the radio (Audio/COMAND).
The touchpad control unit sends the control signals over the telematics CAN to the radio (Audio/COMAND).
The voice commands for the voice control system are converted by the hands-free system microphone into electrical signals and then forwarded to the radio (Audio/COMAND).
The control signals of the left multifunction steering wheel button group and the right multifunction steering wheel button group are forwarded to the radio (Audio/COMAND) via the following route:
Steering wheel electronics
Steering LIN
Steering column tube module (MRM) control unit
Chassis CAN
Gateway for user interface CAN
User interface CAN
Instrument cluster (KI)
User interface CAN
The picture signals in the radio (Audio/COMAND) are transmitted from the DVD drive via a separate video line to the controller unit. The radio (Audio/COMAND) sends the picture signals over an LVDS line to the Audio/COMAND display control unit.
Audio is output depending on the equipment variant:
On vehicles with CODE E65 (Burmester surround sound system), the audio signals are sent over MOST to the sound system amplifier control unit, where they are amplified and output to the speaker system via direct lines.
On vehicles except CODE E65 (Burmester surround sound system), the radio (Audio/COMAND) outputs the audio signals over direct lines to the speaker system .
More detailed information on the speaker system is available in the "Speaker output function" document.
