A distinction is made between the following procedures:
Speaker output in vehicles with CODE 810 (Sound system)
Speaker output in vehicles except CODE 810 (Sound system)
Speaker actuation in the event of voice output
The speaker actuation with voice connection for telematics services (e.g. emergency call) (code 348 (Emergency call/assist system), code 350 (eCall Europe emergency call system), code 351 (Emergency call system (HERMES)) or with the "Digital DriveStyle App" (with code B56 (Drive Kit Plus for the iPhone® 4/4s), code B62 (Drive Kit Plus for the iPhone® 5s/5c/5)) are not described in this document.
Speaker output in vehicles with CODE 810 (Sound system)
The audio signals are routed via Media Oriented System Transport (MOST) to the sound system amplifier control unit (N40/3), where they are finally amplified and output over the following speakers via direct lines:
Left rear door speaker (H4/3)
Right rear door speaker (H4/4)
Left front door speaker (H4/5)
Right front door speaker (H4/6)
Center instrument panel speaker (H4/27)
Woofer (H4/29)
Left mirror triangle tweeter (H4/33)
Right mirror triangle tweeter (H4/34)
Left rear door tweeter (H4/35)
Right rear door tweeter (H4/36)
Left rear surround speaker (H4/62)
Right rear surround speaker (H4/63)
The center instrument panel speaker is used for the "Digital DriveStyle App" with voice connection for voice output, and actuated by the Drive Kit control unit for the iPhone® (N123/7).

The center instrument panel speaker is used for voice output for telematics services with voice connection (e.g. emergency call) and, depending on the equipment installed, is actuated by the emergency call system control unit (N123/4), the telematics services communications module (N112/2) or the HERMES control unit (N112/9).

with code B63 (Sporty engine sound)
The sound system amplifier control unit receives synthesized sound signals from the engine sound control unit (N40/1).
Speaker output in vehicles except CODE 810 (Sound system)
On vehicles except code B63 (Sporty engine sound), all audio signals are output by the audio equipment via direct lines over the following speakers:
Left rear door speaker
Right rear door speaker
Left front door speaker
Right front door speaker
Left mirror triangle tweeter
Right mirror triangle tweeter

The audio equipment sends the audio signals processed via direct lines to the engine sound control unit, which then forwards the audio signals via direct lines to the speakers.
Speaker actuation in the event of voice output
For voice output (e.g. as part of the telephony, navigation or voice control system) only the front speakers are actuated. On vehicles except CODE 810 (Sound system) this refers to the following speakers:
Left front door speaker
Right front door speaker
Left mirror triangle tweeter
Right mirror triangle tweeter
On vehicles with CODE 810 (Sound system) the center instrument panel speaker is also actuated.
