A distinction is made between the following procedures:
Speaker output in vehicles with CODE 810 (Sound system)
Speaker output in vehicles except CODE 810 (Sound system)
Speaker actuation in the event of voice output
Speaker output in vehicles with CODE 810 (Sound system)
The audio signals are routed from the audio equipment via MOST to the sound system amplifier control unit (N40/3), where they are amplified and output via the following speakers using direct lines:
Left door tweeter (H41/h1)
Left door woofer (H4/1h2)
Right door tweeter (H4/2h1)
Right door woofer (H4/2h2)
Left rear tweeter (H4/3h1)
Left rear woofer (H4/3h2)
Right rear tweeter (H4/4h1)
Right rear woofer (H4/4h2)
Center instrument panel speaker (H4/27)
Rear shelf woofer (H4/29)
Left rear surround speaker (H4/54)
Right rear surround speaker (H4/57)

With active vehicle-related services, the center instrument panel speaker is used for voice output and is actuated by the emergency call system control unit via direct lines.

For telematics services with voice connection (e.g. emergency call), the center instrument panel speaker is used for voice output and actuated via direct lines by the HERMES control unit (N112/9).
Speaker output in vehicles except CODE 810 (Sound system)
The audio signals are output via the following speakers by the audio equipment using direct lines:
Left door tweeter
Left door woofer
Right door tweeter
Right door woofer
Left rear tweeter
Left rear woofer
Right rear tweeter
Right rear woofer
Speaker actuation in the event of voice output
During voice output (except code 360 (HERMES UMTS) and except code 362 (HERMES LTE)), only the front speakers are actuated as part of the following functions:
Telephony
Emergency call system (with code 348 (Emergency call/assist system), with code 359 (TELEAID emergency call system) or as of 01.06.2012 with code 512 (COMAND APS with DVD changer) except code 494 (USA version) or with code 527 (COMAND APS with single DVD drive (with navigation)) except code 498 (Japan version))
Voice control system (with code 511 (Audio 50 APS with DVD changer), with code 512 (COMAND APS with DVD changer) or with code 527 (COMAND APS with single DVD drive (with navigation)))
Navigation (with code 512 (COMAND APS with DVD changer), with code 527 (COMAND APS with single DVD drive (with navigation)) or with code 509 (Navigation box))
In vehicles with CODE 810 (Sound system), the following speakers are actuated for voice output:
Left door tweeter
Left door woofer
Right door tweeter
Right door woofer
Center instrument panel speaker
In vehicles except code 810 (Sound system), the following speakers are actuated for voice output:
Left door tweeter
Left door woofer
Right door tweeter
