Y114 Retarder valve block
Location
The retarder valve block (Y114) is installed in the upper area of the retarder.
Task
The retarder valve block (Y114):
serves as the interface to the retarder control (RS) control unit (A20) and receives control signals from it,
makes the pneumatic control pressure for pressurizing the diaphragm available,
monitors the pneumatic control pressure,
seals or opens the port to the muffler,
actuates the 2/2-directional control valve.
Function
To regulate the pneumatic control pressure:
An electrical control signal from the RS control unit (A20) actuates the continuously variable proportioning valve integrated in the retarder valve block (Y114) (Y114y2) which then modulates the pneumatic control pressure depending on the control signal.
Monitoring the pneumatic control pressure:
The pressure sensor integrated in the retarder valve block (Y114) (Y114b1) functions on a piezo-electric basis, i.e. it produces a voltage proportional to the control pressure which is available to the control unit RS (A20).
Sealing or opening the port to the muffler:
An electrical control signal from the RS control unit (A20) actuates the shift valve integrated in the retarder valve block (Y114)Y114y1), which opens or seals the port to the muffler. The air escapes via the open port through the muffler into the atmosphere.
2/2
The directional control valve 2/2 is actuated via an air duct to the retarder valve block (Y114) by applying pressure.
