Function requirements
Function
General
High torque transfer and frequent shift work, with a simultaneous reduction in shift force, require high-performance synchronization of the shift mechanism.
Single-cone synchronization from 2nd to 7th gear fulfills these requirements and offers the following advantages during shift operation:
Fast synchronization
High ease of shifting
Low shift forces
The gearwheels for gears 1-7 and the reverse gear are idler gears, that are braked through synchronization devices, and that can be positively connected with the respective output shaft.

Function
Single-cone synchronization in 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th gear
Single-cone synchronization is used for synchronization of 2nd to 7th gear.
Double-cone synchronization from 1st gear and reverse gear
Double-cone synchronization is used for synchronization of 1st gear and reverse gear.
