The sliding freewheel (1) is located in the torque converter.

Sliding freewheel, task

In overrun mode the sliding freewheel (1) makes possible the full utilization of the braking effect of the engine (engine brake and constant throttle), also when the converter lockup clutch is open.

Sliding freewheel, design

The sliding freewheel (1) is designed as a brake roller freewheel. The turbine wheel is connected to the brake roller freewheel via the inner gearing.
