GF15.00-P-3005A | Coolant temperature sensor, location/task/design/function | 28.4.99 |
ENGINE 104.942 /992, 111.960 /921 /940
P15.00-0002-06
Design
1 Plastic housing
2 Metal housing with hexagon bolt
3 NTC resistor
4 Electrical connections
B11/3 Coolant temperature sensor
Task
Determines the coolant temperature.
Transmits signal to the control unit of the injection system for controlling the engine management.
P15.00-0003-06
Function
The NTC resistor (3) integrated in the coolant temperature sensor (B11/3) alters its electrical resistance in line with the coolant temperature.
NTC means Negative Temperature Coefficient; which means that the electrical resistance (R) drops as the temperature (T) increases.
Example
Coolant temperature | Resistor |
20 °C | approx. 2 500Ω |
80 °C | approx. 300Ω |
