The AdBlue reservoir (3) consists of an aluminum or synthetic material container and has a coolant duct (2), as well as the pipes (4,5,6,7) for the connection of the AdBlue flow and coolant flow.
The filler neck opening of the AdBlue reservoir (3) has a diameter 19 mm smaller than the Diesel filler neck opening and additionally has a magnetic adapter (1).
To control the AdBlue level and temperature, the reservoir contains a combined AdBlue level and temperature sensor (8)
Refilling AdBlue
The filler neck of the reservoir (3) prevents, with its specific diameter and magnetic adapter, an erroneously filling with Diesel fuel.
During the refilling, the magnetic field of the adapter (1) activates a magnetic switch, enabling the filling. Otherwise this system prevents the accidental Diesel fuel filling of the AdBlue reservoir through the magnetic adapter (1) and the magnetic switch in the supply pistol, only permitted when there is a certain magnetic field.
Heating of AdBlue
The coolant proceeding from the engine flows through the coolant pipe (4) inside the reservoir (3). The flow in the coolant duct (2) leaves the AdBlue reservoir (3) by means of the coolant pipe (6) and returns to the engine. By means of the heat transfer in the cooling duct (2), any possibly frozen AdBlue is thawed.
