General functional requirements for ASSYST PLUS
"Terminal 15 ON"
ASSYST PLUS, general
ASSYST PLUS has been integrated into the instrument cluster control unit to determine the vehicle's service intervals. The service intervals are determined either according to the mileage or using a certain period, depending on which limit is exceeded first. ASSYST PLUS also takes into account the time and distance-dependent additional operations in accordance with the vehicle equipment.
ASSYST PLUS provides an overview of the scope and timing of anticipated service work in the vehicle which is displayed on the multifunction display for the instrument cluster control unit.
ASSYST PLUS comprises the following subfunctions:
Remaining mileage
Determining the remaining time
Evaluating data
Service indicator
Reset service interval.
Remaining mileage
The remaining distance is calculated from the difference of the defined kilometer reading and the distance already traveled. The distance traveled is defined via the wheel speed.
The Electronic Stability Program (ESP) control unit sends information on the wheel speed to the instrument cluster control unit.
Determining the remaining time
The remaining time is determined in the ASSYST PLUS.
The remaining mileage to the next service is determined by comparing the odometer reading to the reading stored at the last service.
Evaluating data
ASSYST PLUS additionally takes into account the following data to determine the service scope and intervals:
Engine speed
Oil level
Engine torque
Engine temperature
Engine off time
For this purpose, the CDI control unit (with 642 engine or 699 engine) or the ME control unit (with 200 engine) sends the corresponding information to the instrument cluster control unit.
Service indicator
The following notes with service code can be shown on the multifunction display of the instrument cluster (IC) control unit:
"Service XX in XX days"
"Service XX in XXXX km/mi"
"Carry out service XX"
The following messages are displayed if the service points have been exceeded:
"Service XX has been due for XX days"
"Service XX has been due for XXXX km/mi"
Reset service interval
The following parameters are required to reset the service interval:
Current kilometer reading
Current date
Odometer reading at last oil change (from service booklet)
Date of the last oil change (from service booklet)
Calculation data of ASSYST PLUS
Press the OK button (4) on the left-hand side of the multifunction steering wheel to reset the service.
The "Next service" message appears on the multifunction display of the instrument cluster (IC) control unit. If you press the OK button (4) for more than 3 s, the "Maintenance interval reset" message appears. The service interval is reset. Manually enter the current service data upon replacing the instrument cluster control unit.
