Operating lights and turn signal lamps at combination switch (model 118, 167, 177, 247, 293)
High beam:
High beam: Turn exterior lights switch (8) to low beam (6) or automatic driving lights (7) position. Push combination switch (1) forwards. The adaptive or manual high beam is activated.
When the high beam is active, the low beam indicator lamp is deactivated and replaced by the high beam indicator lamp.
Headlamp flasher:
The headlamp flashing function is activated for as long as the combination switch (1) is pulled backwards.
Turn signal light:
Brief turn signaling: The brief turn signaling function is activated by briefly pressing the combination switch (1) up to the detent point, upwards for the right side and downwards for the left. Three turn signals occur.
Turn signaling: The turn signaling function is activated by pressing the combination switch (1) beyond the pressure point, upwards for the right side and downwards for the left.
Vehicles with Active Lane Change Assist: The Active Lane Change Assist can lengthen turn signaling which has been activated by the driver so that it lasts for the duration of the lane change. It can also activate the turn signal indicator automatically if the driver signaled in this direction directly beforehand, but a lane change was immediately not possible.
On models 118, 167, 177, 247 and 293, the combination switch (1) is monostable. This means that the combination switch (1) always returns to its default position after it has been operated. The function status of the combination switch (1) is displayed in the instrument cluster via the indicator lamps.
Exterior lights in stealth position
The general legal conditions mean that the rain/light sensor with additional functions (B38/2) must be active in all positions of the exterior lights switch (8). This means that, either the daytime running lamps or the low beams are on depending on the time of day or weather conditions.
The hunter stealth position has been realized to enable the lights to be switched off anyway, under certain circumstances. Turning the exterior lights switch (8) to the left parking light position (9) or right parking light position (10) switches off the lights when the ignition is on.
Off-road light (model 247.6 (X247) 4MATIC)
Off-road light makes it easier to detect objects and obstacles in advance when driving off-road by means of symmetrical, wider and brighter distribution of the low beam light. This function can be activated using the AUTO button (vehicle symbol) in the lower control panel or in the "Settings" menu in the head unit (A26/17).
