Notes on carrying out repair work in the vehicle interior

Remove

Remove cover at fuse and relay box

Remove trim at A-pillar in right footwell

Remove/install paneling in footwell

Remove/install cover below instrument panel (right)

Remove right grab handle with interior lamp above sliding door

Remove/install handle on roof

Mark headliner cutout (1) for bracket (5)

 Align the separation lines for the headliner cutout (1) centrally to the overhead control panel control unit (N70) and mark according to the dimensions (a, b, c).

Cut out headliner cutout (1) for bracket (5)


Carefully remove headliner cutout (1).
This helps to avoid any damage to the roof.

 Saw headliner cutout (1) with a suitable window removal device and HSS saw blade, circular Ø 63 mm, along the marking. Disconnect the insulating layer below this with a suitable knife.



Connect DVD wiring harness (3) to preinstallation wiring harness (2)

 The preinstallation wiring harness (2) is located on the right side of the vehicle in the area of the right grab handle above the sliding door and along the rear roof bow above the headliner.

Route door contact electrical lines (3.1, 3.2) of DVD wiring harness (3) up to installation opening of right grab handle above sliding door


Ensure that the wiring harnesses are not damaged by means of chafing, getting caught in moving parts or crushing.
Otherwise the corresponding wiring harness must be replaced.

 Route door contact electrical lines (3.1, 3.2) of DVD wiring harness (3) above headliner along rear roof bow up to installation opening of right grab handle above sliding door.

Connect door contact electrical line (3.1) to interior lamp electrical line pin 4 red (4.1)

 Use insulation displacement connector.

Connect door contact electrical line (3.2) to interior lamp electrical line pin 2 red/white (4.2)

 Use insulation displacement connector.

Attach clip nut (6) at front roof bow

Install bracket (5)

 To do so, insert bracket (5) transverse to direction of travel into headliner, turn 90° and push center bar of bracket (5) into bead at rear roof bow.

Screw in bolts (7)

 Screw/bolt, rear entertainment unit bracket

Install mounting plate (8) and fasten with screws/bolts (9)

 Ensure that the mounting plate (8) is aligned exactly. Small cutout on right, large cutout on left.

Route DVD wiring harness (3) at right through small cutout

Connect DVD wiring harness (3) to DVD player (10)

Install DVD player (10) and fasten with screws/bolts (11)


Remove insulating layer in the rear area at headliner cutout (1); as the DVD player (10) must lie flat on the mounting plate (8).
This prevents damage and malfunctions caused by tension at the DVD player (10).

 For this, first fold out screen on DVD player (10) and place corresponding metal sleeves on screws/bolts (11).

Install right grab handle with interior lamp over sliding door

Remove/install handle on roof

Change fuse in fuse and relay box



Fuse and relay box fuse assignment

 To do so, remove TV console fuse (F34f22) from circuit 30, remove contact and install in fuse housing (transparent). Install TV entertainment fuse (K40/9f38) in fuse housing (transparent) and insert in circuit 15.

Document retrofitted equipment via vehicle documentation (VeDoc)

 Attach "Rear entertainment retrofitted" note under field organization texts to design group 82.
