 Warning

Risk of injury caused by performing testing or repair work on airbag or emergency tensioning retractor units.

Store airbag units with deployment side facing up; do not expose to temperatures greater than 100 °C. When working on these units, disconnect the power supply.

Withdraw ignition key

Remove left and right screws (arrows)

 Hold airbag unit while doing so

 Bolt, airbag to steering wheel

Lift airbag unit off steering wheel and detach connector coupling from squib on gas generator

 Installation: The coupling must latch audibly into place when plugging in.

 Disposal: If the airbag unit is replaced,

dispose of the defective one properly in an environmentally-compatible manner.



Make airbag units unusable

Install in the reverse order

 The steering wheel must always be replaced if the driver airbag unit has triggered

Check automatic resetting of combination switch

Perform diagnosis on airbag unit
